Cinema 4D | Cloner Object Part II

Another test with cloner object in Cinema 4D. I used depth map generated by cinema also to play with the DoF. Using the frischluft depth of field in AE, it gives flexibility to control the blur and focus area. If there's no frischluft Dof effect in your AE, don't worry because "lens blur" effect can also be used and it's a default effect, not a 3rd party plugin. Yes, It's so much fun..:D

It’s the first intro I made with cinema 4D. It’s a powerful tool to create motion graphics, but the most exciting part is a tight integration with AE.Notice the text “now in HD” in the end, originally it was just a straight front view footage, but suddenly with camera from cinema4D imported, suddenly it feels like it’s being made in 3D itself. This integration promises new opportunities and opens limitless possibilities. Definitely, i’m going to try out other features..C u later..

Another test with PFHoe-Maya-AEThis time I’m trying to slow down when taking movie, and it actually works.The tracking got good reference, but some dark spots still left un-tracked, not a good solid one.Makes me want to try another shot or angle. :)

Lessons from the test
1. Too shaky footage makes harder to track
2. Markers did a pretty good job, although slightly wiggles in the end
3. Considering using steady cam to gain more control
4. HD footage makes it heavy to process, at least with my comp..:))

3D environment concept

Moving on…after the turntable, now it’s time for a camera movement test. Not an extremely difficult camera movement. Just subtle, nice pan from left to right (although i realized it was a little bit too fast in the end :D ), zoom in movement and crane up. My goal was to test the overall look if there’s a camera movement, in this part i also noticed some misplaced texture and some fixes on the UV. The Color correction was a choice, and i decided to go with the “chilly snow” look, thought it’d be good with the snow on the ground, supposedly :D

3D Temple Concept

After a while not doing some modeling, I tried to create this one. Not very complex one, but i enjoyed it a bit, especially the texture. Yeah, the texturing needs to be done carefully and I think I’ve missed and misplaced some textures there, but it’s a good practice. I’ll try again sometimes in the future but I think I’ll leave it here for now…and the still images can be seen on the 3D still images section.

Maya to AE Camera test

“what’s your plan for today?”well, this time i used the same file from the previous test, but different camera. Although it’s not a fancy move, i found that this movement suited better with broadcast type that I wanna do. Simple zoom in sometimes makes the message clearly conveyed. Next time perhaps i’d like to try a movie cinematic angles on this one, with the same 3D model, or adding some elements.

My first test using mocha for AE CS5. It is a planar tracker. I usually use point tracker, ex: PFHoe or syntheyes, but this time I’d wanna give a try. re-design the concept!

This is another version of my earlier concept. I tried to give different colors to see how it looks like. Somehow, i like this colorful color better, just because the bright and cheerful colors seem relaxing, although i put little bit too high in term of saturation. well, it's a concept that needs to be developed further. I'm still thinking how to change this design, fast and giving a new look. After all, most of the times, the client loves choices, don't they?

ID rebranding concept

A concept for the ID re-branding project. Let's see what i've created so far. The basic idea is creating an ID for a family channel. Something fresh and calm, relax feel is the main subject here. With the basic theme color idea, I chose orange, just because it offers a fresh look for a whole concept for a family channel. White borders gives cartoony, funny and relax feel to the graphics animation. Nothing fancy with the movement and so forth, just a subtle animation with a depth of field (dof) effect from the AE camera. Elements made using AE plugin, Zaxwerks 3D serpentine and 3D text using Zaxwerks Pro Animator.

Stumble upon recently on a particle system for AE called plexus. first impression, feels like trapcode particular or form, and it is, because it also a particle generator. Ocean test

A friend of mine reminds me about my old ocean project. So, i took a look at it once again, finished it up and uploaded it. I didn't change anything since the last time i made it. Made in Maya 2011 ocean system with pretty much default setting, little bit tweaking here and there. Basically, find the ocean samples on visor tab, should be there. Thrown in some sound effects, lightning and dark clouds. Oh, i remember now, the stormy sea is the start up state i used. There's a lot of other settings i need to look at and try, including the wake or locator. But, for now, I'll leave it as is. References should be found easily on the net. Happy Ocean Day..*really? is there any.. i should probably look it up..

Duplicate animation array test

This is a great script and deserves attention more. I've done some tests using this script on Maya 2011 while back, but as i said earlier, it deserves more attention to it because it holds much more potentials and capabilities. I hope Vlad Ovidiu, who creates this script, continues on this one. Check the script at "Duplicate Animation Array"

Testing the Rigid body..

Playing with the rigid body is so much fun. In Maya 2011, it could be done easily. Set the particular object into active rigid body or passive rigid body. The simple point is, if it's active, it's doing the action (moving, falling, crashing,etc.), and if it's passive, it stays still, means it's accepting the action, just like the ball bouncing on the floor. The Ball is active, and the floor is passive. There are many tutorials out there to explain this principle even further. Have Fun :D

Graphics experiment

It's been a while since i made a package consists of several graphics that often used at TV station. This is just a "starter-pack" that could go beyond even further. The changes could be, including but not limited to the color theme, background, additional elements, camera view and the sequence itself. I've been thinking and challenging my self to create a design that could be customized easily. This idea has been particularly influenced by lots and lots of graphics templates out there on the net. So, why don't i create it myself?

It should have been used in a project with lots of green in it.. again, sure it was fun doing this stuff. I was playing with 3D serpentine from zaxwerks. Instead of making it 3D bevel looking text or object, i chose the ribbon type. I have been always wondering how it's made. mmm..now what i'm going to play with on the weekend?

Happy new year 2011 everybody...
new year, new idea...Another concept for future work. It should be reflecting the shiny-silvery theme. Added some graphics elements.. and there it is :D
The actual footage was in full HD1080i (converted to 720 x 576 for youtube) so it's pretty heavy in render time, and with Final Gathering (FG), also HDRI options are turned on, adds more time to the overall render time. But, it's definitely worth it :D

Creating flower with script in Maya

Yet, another chance in Maya and came up with this one. Surely it holds many possibilities, but for now, this is what i have been produced so far. I was thinking to create a growing flower, with another technique other than the paint effect in maya, although that would be good. I'm still using the array animation script from creative crash. With just one object, you can duplicate it and see what you can come up with. See ya :D

Okay, here's another trial and error with maya and AE. obviously, trapcode particular is being used, and OF also. For the blur, Frischluft out of focus did a pretty good job. For overall color look, magic bullet was useful enough to create the overall mood and feeling.There's one thing that could easily changed the whole mood and that's the color scheme. I was back and forth deciding which theme i should used, but different color made different impression.i could have rendered with various colors to see which one works, but again..it;s a matter of preference..and perhaps this would go for another direction, who knows..:D

And the award goes to...its probably because of many award ceremonies lately, so my theme now is music award opening, its pretty short..
I have no idea what my idea was, but it turns out not bad :D maybe just an excuse, the important part is to learn something..and based on the script for maya, its called "Duplicate Animation Array".
Pretty good stuff, so make sure you get it and have fun with it..:D

Sinedot

There's a cool free plugin for AE, it is Sinedot. It's very useful to create something organic flow or waveform, vectorscope kinda thing. I don't know what you guys call it, but it is very handy. I tried some settings to create backgrounds or graphics elements. But in this video, I put also trapcode particular elements, I just can't leave it alone..*sigh*..Well,Be sure to play with Sinedot..Cheerrss :D

Quite sometime ago, I found thisAbduzeedo Website. It was all because of my class project, looking for a new design. It was originally photoshop class. Then, I was wondering how it'd look like if it moves. Yep, this is as far i can go, for now.. hope can make it a little further, and better...Oh, the evolution stock footage was also used and alot of masking works..to get the color theme..I kinda like it..:D

Another experiment, this time i'm playing around with 3D stroke, it's very useful to create line streaks like this and oh, and my first attemp on 3D text using Zaxwerks Pro Animator. It was pretty neat and relatively fast comparing if you are going back and forth between AE and your 3D application. I'm still not used to it, since there's no really freedom in a sense that you pretty much have limitations in light, material, etc, but you can get descent result in no time.. try it for yourself..!!

Beyond Science

Recently, I have been playing with trapcode form. It was so fun that I created something like this and keep dragged on. I put the vector blur, makes the lines resembles the "vines", at least that what I thought :) But eventually, hey, maybe it's not the vines that I'm looking at, perhaps it's a neuron. Mmm...that's a start. First task, where the neuron's place could be? well, the easiest thing that I could think of was the "Brain". So, I put it inside the brain and gave the title, Beyond science.. I didn't even know what title it's supposed to be there :)I'm thinking to make something like this. Trapcode Form has many features, and the presets are always a good start.

So, for the past couple years, i promise to myself, why not making a reel. It becomes really important as i want to apply for a position. Usually, they are asking for it and it's exactly what it means for. Most of the times, you can let people know what you are capable of through your demo reel. The rule is simple, if they like it, you'll get hired, otherwise you have to find another openings.I have a simple idea about how to make a reel, so make sure you know what your style is, and who knows it will make a big difference.

Yay!!! as i promised, actually to myself, though..:) i am done with opening graphics, compiled it, also put on the music score. Eventually, i had to change a little bit the overall look. Since it has blueish theme, with gold colour..i thought it would be suit the theme well if i changed the theme on "box office text".
Anyway, i am pretty happy with the result, now its time to get some coke and french fries..

so, i just made this graphics..out of nowhere.just kidding..i've always wanted to make something, object or titles, shiny!! there you go..it's shiny enough for me. I threw some lights out in Maya, with couple of settings with material i used. What's that colourful lines? that's from optical flares plugin which called winter aurora..something like that..although i believe fractal noise could get you something like that too, but right now just wannna play with OF for a while. It's still has no music or opening graphics for now, but let me think about it on the weekend..mmm..let's see about that..:)

This project, actually started a while ago when i was in college. Especially the image itself, the idea was to create something unlike any other, it means something abstract. What i thought was creating random shapes, pull it in, out and so on...that's what came up. I didn't know what it was, that's good because that's supposed to be. Anyway, when i look at it again now, i want to make it move. A little bit of thought of movements, and right there, you have it. It takes quite amount of time to render from maya with my adorable laptop, so i had to decrease the quality and it's obvious from the jaggies on the edges. Finally, i had my fun playing around again with maya. Feels good..:)

I came across videocopilot.net for countless time, and there was a project file called glass project. My head started to think of some possibilities that i could use the project for. This motion graphics is my first one, maybe there will another one, or many other ideas..who knows?? . In this project, i added the dust and noise, for or cloud that you can see as the background. I also changed the camera movement. Instead of going back, i prefer forward and that's pretty much that i wanted to change, plus the pictures and title.So, thanks a lot to A.K. of videocopilot.net for the project file and i very recommend that you should get it too, along with other free stuff.

Opening title

The idea came up after i watched the movie "The Time Traveler's Wife". With subtle color, beautiful out of focus (bokeh) look, it was just awesome. So, I tried to recreate those looks in this graphics. I used the standard particle system in AE, CC particle world and Frischluft out of focus plugin. The same result for the blur if you use the lens blur, i just want to try something different this time. I added several elements, such as: the flare and videocopilot's evolution. It turned out pretty much like the way i wanted from the perspective that i could get the feel of the overall graphics look, especially the bokeh.

News Graphics

Once again, I tried to create graphics for news. This time, it's more like a package. Started with the opening news with morning theme with yellow and green fresh colors, then the night theme with elegant dark blue, the headline, lowerthird, teaser, promo, and finally the plasma -if needed-
I played with the particles, lenscare out of focus plug-in. Note that this lens-blur-like plug in could consume more time, but it pays off with the result. It can be benefited more if you are working in HD, the soft blur was just great. Unfortunately, i just rendered this out in mpeg-vcd quality.

This is the character that i was working on for my class project. I was trying to make it moves not very stiff, but still there are some limitations with the rig. Since it's my first rig and character model, I can say i learned alot from this project and it turned out to be a fun project. Although, as always it takes TIME !!!
